13. What is skill coaching?
Skill coaching attempts to improve face-to-face, on-the-job skills. This is a time-consuming process, as it usually requires the coach to “buddy” with the team member. To be effective, skill coaching also has to take place frequently. While skill coaching is hard work, the pay-off in performance improvement is evident in the bottom line, staff motivation and attrition rates.
Examples of skills covered during these sessions may include presentation skills training, negotiation skills training, management and coaching skills training.
