All about luck - ask any loser
  Hi there,
Welcome to the September edition of mind-set, a newsletter designed to provide you with practical tips on influencing others. This month I would like to invite you to think about one word - Excellence.
Forward to a friend

Excellence is an attitude, a way of thinking or a mindset.  When we think about Mahatma Gandhi, Richard Branson, Bill Gates or Nelson Mandela we think about some of the most accomplished people in recent times.

We may agree or disagree with their points of view and yet we will agree that how they choose to live their lives is very rare.  All of these people were presented with an opportunity to create their reality and they did just that.

Blaming others (even Lady Luck) for our circumstances is just a lame excuse for poor objectivity about oneself.  It is the responsibility of each of us to overcome any limitations (self-imposed or otherwise) and achieve our own success.  This applies to all levels of the organisational hierarchy and to our personal lives.

Richard Branson is unable to use a computer and yet he runs one of the largest brands in the world.  Mahatma Gandhi united a nation and freed his country with a philosophy of PEACE.

If you evaluate your wealth using the following criteria;

  • Happiness
  • Relationships
  • Financial
  • Achievements

What score do you achieve today?   Is it what you want?

How many people do you know whose lives are filled with regret?  Everyday we are given the opportunity to choose between being a mediocre statistic or being excellent

Every success is the result of someone's single-minded focus.  Like most of us, each one of these successful people started life with two arms, legs, eyes, a nose, a mouth and a brain.  What is different is HOW they used their minds.

The ability to achieve excellence is encoded in our DNA.  If you want to access this ability, contact us.  Consider this, would you ever think about sitting into a rowing boat and rowing to the moon – probably not, because you think that it’s impossible.  Yet you do think about what you could achieve – and on some level you know that it’s possible for you to achieve this.  All you need to do is to uncover how.

The skills required to change how you think, and then your mindset, are often referred to as ‘soft skills’.  For decades companies have invested billions of dollars in training their people, with varying degrees of success.  For example, a sales process is introduced into a company.  Some sales people produce excellent results using the process and others don’t.  Same process – different results.  What is the difference?  An attitude of success, perhaps?

It is often only when a person is able to objectively look at their life can the need for change be identified.  Effective soft skills training and coaching firstly addresses the self-imposed and limiting attitudes in the individual.  When we share communication and influencing skills with an individual or team, then success and achievement becomes a MINDSET - not luck.

A test for insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.  Ask yourself:
What are you going to do differently today?
What changes are you going to make to the results that you are getting?
Or do you ‘know all of this’ and yet do nothing?

Through training and coaching we show people HOW to achieve peak performance. When people know the HOW of achievement, then excellence and success follows - it’s that simple.
